#365DaysOfHabits Day 6; Kiss A Ginger Day (12 January 2015)

This day did not exactly go as I had planned for it to go, but then again — does it ever? We so love to be in control and just as we have convinced ourselves not to plan life out ahead too far of time, we find ourselves doing exactly that. It is a natural instinct for me. I am a planner, an organiser — I absolutely hate being disorganised, especially in my work. I want to get things done and I don’t want to waste my own time or that of others. If you plan well then you can do your job well. What is true in business is not always true in life, I am sorry to say. No matter how hard you try, shit happens, we learned that a long time ago from a slightly challenged man named Forrest Gump, The. Just because I can. I would tell you all about it, but then I would spoil the surprise, so I will leave it for tomorrow — you’ll find out soon enough why.

TV is a funny things, it is a wonderful thing — it’s exciting, unplanned and many times it lets you to believe things that are actually not what they are at all! The magic of television, right? Last night/early this morning, depending on where in the world you live, it was the Golden Globes. Movie stars attended, so did stars from the small screen — which nowadays are far bigger than most movie stars. This morning we found ourselves on the set of a TV show, playing a game of spot-the-fake-ginger. The aim of the game is to see which celebrity is a real red-head and which aren’t and get their colour from a bottle. It is here that I snapped today’s picture. So much fun, smiles and laughs. After my day didn’t turn out as I had planned/expected, it took a swing in a different direction — television. I am a huge fan of television, always have been, always will be. It is hilarious when I think about it now, how I have always really dreamt about working in TV and now I actually am, something which was actually very accidental. It is magical, not just TV, but movies as well. When I was about three years old, I discovered Bambi. It became my instant favourite, and I would watch it over and over, again and again. My father actually rented the video (yes, it was that long ago) and told the rental company that he would pay, but he was keeping the movie for three weeks, just so that I could watch it the entire holiday — it would keep everyone in the household happy. And so it began. I was a sucker for a movie, use to sit in front of them for hours, re-watch my favourite once a hundred times.

Things haven’t changed much, honestly. The only difference is that nowadays it is more TV-series that keep my occupied, as I am sure it does a lot of us. When I find one that I love, and I mean really love, I have the ability to watch those seasons again and again like I did with Bambi when I was but a mere three years old. Some moments just never grow old, quotes simply doesn’t lose its power and certain scenes will remain favourites forever.

After my day ran its chosen course, I decided that it would be best to have a quiet evening at home, doing what I do best — watch TV series. Of course there was a lineup! Some of my favourite shows has returned. I love to be surprised by a show, to not know exactly what is going to happen and then have it play out that way. What is the point if you continue watching some predictable piece of bad written TV? From one season to the next there must be an improvement, there must be that moment at the end of the show that you go: yes, the wait was so worth it! And it was, it really was.
